An intensive one-day workshop, the first of its kind in Australia, exploring the unique challenges in adapting and implementing the Balanced Scorecard across a range of healthcare settings.  The workshop will combine a review of current international literature on the use of the Balanced Scorecard in the healthcare sector, with expert knowledge and analysis, case studies, and interactive discussion.

The workshop includes:

  • A review of current international literature on the use of the Balanced Scorecard in the healthcare sector.
  • An investigation of the main challenges and benefits of using the Balanced Scorecard in a healthcare setting.
  • Case studies on Balanced Scorecard implementation in the healthcare sector.
  • Ensuring clinical staff buy-in.
  • Effective performance measurement and reporting in hospital and community settings.
  • Making the Balanced Scorecard a part of the organisation's DNA.

The workshop will be facilitated by Drs Michael Court and Bob McDonald, Balanced Scorecard Master Professionals with extensive experience at senior management levels in healthcare.  While employed by Hunter New England Local Health Network, Dr McDonald oversaw the introduction and cascading of the Balanced Scorecard throughout this large (30+ hospitals, numerous community health services and 14,000 staff) public health organisation.

The Balanced Scorecard is extensively used around the world in private, public and not-for-profit organisations with rapid uptake and high levels of satisfaction across a wide range of organisations in the health sector.

The workshop is recommended for executives, managers, planners and analysts from public, not-for-profit and private healthcare organisations, and will be relevant for those working in hospital, community or across both settings.
